The Wild West comes to Culpeper on August 9th! Come see a team of trained Western reenactors engage in mock gunfights, mounted shooting and roping demonstrations, a model Western encampment, a BB target range for kids and more!
The winery has live music by Curt and Rob playing at the pole barn, Pauley’s BBQ food truck serving  during the afternoon, and an all-you-can-eat Pig Roast event running 4-7pm by Mom2Mom as well.

This Western event is FREE (an additional BB target range is a small fee). Events for the day include:
  • The opening shots: Brief introduction of who the entertainers are and what the day will hold and then move right into a mock Gunfight.
  • Introduction to the western lifestyle then and now: This will be a brief talk about some of the things on display like ropes and some horse tack and gear. It will be a mix of modern items and period correct items.
  • Weapons demonstration: Discussion of the weapons on display and some of the variants of these weapons that are used in modern cowboy action sports. These sports are Mounted Shooting, Cowboy Action Shooting, and Fast Draw competitions. Also there will be shooting balloons to demonstrate the use of these weapons.
  • Mounted shooting demonstration coupled with possibly a fast draw demonstration.
  • Roping demo: Someone will talk about the task of ranch roping. They will demonstrate some of the roping shots used to rope cattle.
  • Mock Gunfight: Interactions with the crowd which will conclude with the last mock Gunfight.
This is a family friendly event. No dogs please as there will be lots of loud noises, mock gunfire and horses.
